Refunds, restocks and what WooCommerce does
On an order, WooCommerce lets you refund in full or in part and tick restock for each line, which puts the units back into inventory. Getting the parcel back is a separate job. Book the reverse pickup through RouteOneX with any courier that supports it, track the return like a forward shipment, inspect it on receipt and only then process the restock.

RTO is a different problem
Return to origin is a parcel that was never delivered, almost always COD. You pay forward freight, return freight and the COD fee and get the stock back, often after two weeks. When it arrives, cancel the order in WooCommerce with restock, and look at why it failed: wrong pincode, buyer unreachable, refused at the door. Each has a different fix.
Stopping RTO at the NDR stage
Couriers report each failed attempt as an NDR and re-attempt once or twice before returning the parcel. Responding in that window, with a call or WhatsApp to the buyer and a corrected instruction to the courier, is what separates stores with 10% RTO from stores with 25%. RouteOneX puts every courier's NDRs in one queue with the buyer's details and a one-click re-attempt, and reports RTO rate by pincode so you can restrict COD where it keeps failing.
