Zones, methods and classes
Shipping settings are under WooCommerce, then Settings, then Shipping. Create a zone for India and, if you charge more for the North-East, Jammu and Kashmir and the islands, a second zone keyed by state or postcode range. Each zone gets one or more methods: flat rate, free shipping and local pickup are built in. Shipping classes let you charge differently for bulky or fragile products inside the same zone.
Add weights and dimensions to every product. Couriers bill on the higher of actual and volumetric weight, and the sync carries product weights into the shipment, so empty fields mean wrong labels and weight disputes later.
Connecting RouteOneX
Install the RouteOneX WooCommerce plugin and connect it with an API key from your store. Keys are generated under WooCommerce, Settings, Advanced, REST API; give the key read and write permission so fulfilment and tracking can be written back. Once connected, new orders sync automatically and appear in RouteOneX ready to ship.
- WooCommerce → Settings → Advanced → REST API → Add key
- Permissions: Read/Write
- Paste the key into the RouteOneX plugin
Order statuses and what triggers what
A paid order in WooCommerce sits in Processing; COD orders arrive in Processing too once you enable the COD gateway. RouteOneX picks up orders in Processing, and when the shipment is created the tracking details are written back and the order can move to Completed, which sends WooCommerce's completed-order email with the tracking information. Keep hosting cron working, since WooCommerce relies on it for scheduled tasks and webhooks.
